Earthwatch 2025
Earthwatch, a series of organic ceramic sculptures, inspired by our human connection with nature.
Creating this series has been a journey of discovery, both in the making and the expression of something I am learning to understand about our humanity and co-existence within the natural world. The cocoon like forms are open-ended, implying the flow of life energy.
Each piece is hand built through a layered process of individual clay segments, creating rich textural markings. Further developed through paddling and subtle vibration, guiding the clay into its final, resonant structure.
The Earthwatch series offers a macro perspective, a satellite like view of earth’s surfaces and energies. Gestural application of engobe, oxide washes, and dry glaze give suggestions of the elemental forces, and the unseen patterns that shape our environment. Together, the works invite moments of self-reflection and encourage a deeper connection to nature, an embodied reminder of the delicate, dynamic world we inhabit.
