The Celtic Cross was commissioned as part of the celebration of the new Cardinal Gilroy Learning Centre, a state of the art facility for the students at Holy Cross College, Ryde. Representative of the Patrician Brothers, the Celtic Cross is a symbol that is repeated across the heritage of the school.
The first part of the commission required a design for a small celtic cross to be displayed in each class room. Later when the new facility was underway, the design was scaled to 1.4 metres and was installed at the top of the stairwell overlooking the open learning centre.
The Celtic Cross has a curved centre line, and was cast in burnished aluminium.
